All of them seem fine though, if not a bit dry. But I always find history and politics dry anyway, so really, it's fine. Korean 2 uses the same book I used last spring semester so it's basically a repeat, but it ends at 2:45 on Fridays which means I get to go out with everyone else on Friday nights and I can live with that. History of Classic English Literature doesn't sound fun, but it'll be alright, I'm sure. Same goes for Intro to Korean History and Current Issues in Korean Society. Those two aren't actually my strong suit, but my desire to take them is strong. Even if in Korean History I have to write two 10 page essays in 10 point font. Yes, I am crying.
I guess I'm kind of surprised my the amount of essays I will be writing, I think 6 between the classes. This is mainly because in primary education here, it's more multiple choice based, centered around rote memorization without truly applying it to literal situations in life. Essays aren't a common thing like in the States and other countries, like Denmark for example also has a huge project where it's like 60 pages for a group. At least, that's what two girls told me. It sounds kind of like hell if you ask me. I'll take these few essays.
Last night was fun though! We formed a group to go grocery shopping and to get some food, but me and two other girls, one Danish girl and another girl from Texas, decided to try a burrito place next to the restaurant the others wanted to go to. I'm extremely grateful for this because the place the others went to looked spicy and, well...yeah.
So we went to this place, I forgot the name of course, but it was amazing actually and the guy at the counter was so nice, okay?
This burrito was stuffed with beef, bacon, cheese, kimchi (I'm pretty sure), and french fries. Like, it was amazing. It was cheap and delicious and we want to go back there to try the others with rice in them. They even have a shrimp one. They also serve different types of hot dogs, like sweet potato hot dogs and I'm so down for trying it. Also, they had really really good music and delicious Coke. I teared up a bit, not gonna lie. So, definitely going there again and maybe I'll remember the name that time.
And since we finished eating before the large group, we decided to go to a karaoke (again) that was next door. The other two girls had already been there so it was easy to get to. Oh man, was it fun. The girl from Texas is extremely talented, though, so I basically sounded like a donkey. It's all good though, it made them laugh so I don't even care. Poker Face, Just a Dream by Nelly, Don't Stop Believing, and Barbie Girl. Yes. Good times. I think we planned for a legitimate karaoke trip tomorrow night with chicken too at a place called the Chicken Club. There's huge international student party over in Hongdae but we aren't interested in going, plus the tickets are now like 18,000W. So no.
We went to Daiso again, the lovely mock Dollar General or 5Below. Bought some much needed necessities for cheap because girl I am on a budget and we keep eating dinner out so I gotta save for that.
The store next to Daiso though, made my day.
They had more than one kind too omg
Yes
That's right
I had to, okay? I had no choice. Do not judge me.
You cannot judge me when my roommate has like a really weird contraption on her desk to show off her picture of an Infinite member (hi five for Infinite though). Which by the way, she's super nice but her snoring... I mean... I did end up getting sleep after all, I don't even know how I managed to but I did. I would just feel really bad if it became a serious thing and I had to report it. The requirements here are that you can't have like a sleeping/living habit that disturbs your roommate and others, but I would feel like a criminal if I ended up getting her kicked out. And like, it's when she's asleep, I know it's out of her control. Maybe those nasal strips will work but I don't know if they have those here? Maybe they do, but still. Those aren't 100% either.
Anyway. She's nice, so hopefully it'll work out in the end or maybe I'll get used to her snoring.
There's a party tonight I'm being strongly forced into by one of my friends I made at UWM who was actually an exchange student there who attends Ajou. I didn't know she was going to be at Ajou this semester so I was really surprised when I saw her. She's part of the party's organization so I am obligated to go and I really don't mind because it means dinner. And dinner means chicken. Which means I am happy. You get free beer, too, but it's not good in my opinion, so I'll probably give it away of something, I don't know.
Also, the face butter I bought from The Face Shop is amazing. My face is so moist.
Ah, I paid my dorm fee today as well and wept for the thick wad of cash I gave to the bank teller. Which, the bank teller counted my money but didn't know how much there was??? Like, he asked me how much and when I said he was like, yeah I think you're right. Sir. Count my money for me. So now I'm broke, but it's okay, really. I'll cry about it later tonight when I'm in the dark. I gotta spend money for a university jacket tomorrow, too, I guess, even though I'm on the fence about it. It's not really my style (wow I sound so pretentious), but I mean, it'll be a great memory of this whole shebang. I guess I'll suck it up and get one.
I got plans this weekend and it's so nice, because Milwaukee/Racine is so boring. There aren't many things to do in Milwaukee (that are cheap) and there's NOTHING in Racine. Like, I actually feel like my age here I guess. You know how teenagers and early twenty somethings are out with plans or partying every weekend, but that's kind of difficult if there's nothing to plan for. It's nice here, it's all down the street. I think it's also better for me personally because this place is nothing like where I come from so it's all new in that aspect, not just the fact that this is a new country in general.
It's nice. Annoying without a phone, but nice.
