Here at Ajou, they believe that female and male interaction should NOT EXIST. We're talking separated floors that you can get to with only specific elevators. We have a girls elevator and a boys elevator. Out of curiosity, someone tried to press a button for the male elevator on my floor and, surprise surprise, the button didn't even light up. I don't think anyone's hit a button for a male floor inside the elevator but I'm pretty sure nothing will happen. I think we'd all know about it by now if it did.
Someone told me that that's why you have to get use your ID to get out of the staircase, because they don't want girls and boys on the wrong floor or something like that. Now, is that true? I don't know, but I wouldn't put it past lovely Ajou.
I don't think I would be so bothered by this, but you have to understand that living with strictly just females can be really...dramatic and annoying, on the off chance really disgusting too. I understand why they do it, because I'd really rather not have a guy waltz into our shower rooms because yay for GLASS DOORS. But I mean, if we had co-ed floors, we'd have in-suite bathrooms and I am SO down for that idea. Please. I think we should get a petition going.
But it's not even just the floors. It' the laundry room too!
A plastic wall is our great divide here at Ajou. God forbid a boy see my undergarments. Okay, I've lived with a brother, that don't bother me or him. My friend and I were joking about how the guys here have probably never even seen an actual thong before.
Gender inequality here in South Korea is still a big issue as well and I will be learning more about that in my Current Issues in Korean Society class. Yippee.
By the way, the lighting in the elevators is the absolute worst. I never realized how white I look under LEDs. Not to mention I think Korea might be a little obsessed with mirrors because they are everywhere. Everywhere.
I hate this picture. And looking at myself in the elevator. So gross. So pale. So ugly. Bleh.
Moving on. Tuesdays are going to be so boring because I don't have class. Big mistake. I think I need classes on weekdays that aren't Friday. Like, I can't handle it. It was a Tuesday. Nothing even happens on Tuesdays. It's Monday's baby bro. But anyway, we decided not to go ut for dinner since we went out for lunch (McD's!) and we're broke college kids trying to make it out of this semester alive. So we went to the cafeteria, too late, it was closed. But the convenience store was open, yay!
This is good! Very tasty! At first it reminded me of liquid medicine, but it grew on me and the box was gone in like 2 minutes. I will be getting this flavor again, I'm sure of it.
Rebekah likes to eat this, which is colloquially known as Liquid Death, but officially called 불닭볶음면 which roughly translates into Noddles of Fury. Just kidding, spicy chicken 'fried' noodles. It's spicy ramen. Some of you might remember how I tried this and I couldn't feel my lips. Well, she eats it all the time and I don't...I can't comprehend how. It looks like the blood of her enemies.
I had this!..........Shrimp risotto....... It wasn't awful but it wasn't as tasty as the picture looks like it would be. I'd probably get it again, it was only 3,000W, you pay for what you get I guess. I was just happy that when I looked at the directions, I actually knew what it was saying!!! I can read Korean!!!!! It had little brown shrimps in it though.....really sketchy with a very strange consistency.
So that was yesterday. Uneventful. Things will pick up after today, what with a club party kind of thing going on tomorrow night and then The Weekend will arrive.
