Korean Folk Village Trip!

PICTURES!

Kind of a hazy day. But the weather was really great and the sun was out. The folk village is located in Yongin, about 30 minutes by bus from my college.

Yes.

Yes, that's where we went. The Korean name for it.

This lady was making ropes of silk!

Moo.

Over in this area are some activities you can participate in, such as jump rope so of course I participated and of course I almost broke my leg.

So some guy we don't know saw that I had gone into the cell and immediately came over, quietly shut the door and tied the rope so I couldn't get out. With the straightest of faces and walked away. Thank you, sir.

I had to.

This place is very fun and interactive!

Some good ice cream right here.

There were lots of performances going on as well and I took some videos of course~

There was a woman performing on a tight rope and I got two videos of that here and here.

There was also a really cool performance with acrobats involving horses? That was really cool, you can find a tiny clip of it here. They were jumping on and off the horse, throwing spears, shooting arrows, running, etc. Really cool and pretty funny too. One guy had a horse costume and ran around a few times. It was cute.

Another performance we stumbled on right after that was a play and we didn't stay for the whole time because, well, Korean. But it was still pretty funny and I could follow along well enough. The videos are here and here.

So that was my day at the folk village! I would like to go back too and spend more time because the place is big and we didn't get to see everything there.

Food Shenanigans

Food! My one true love.

I got a tv dinner... It actually wasn't so bad and you got a lot in it. Could of used more bacon, but let's be real, there's never enough bacon on anything that says there's bacon.

Okay so I bought this because I saw it on Tumblr and people were saying how good it is and I agree, it's pretty darn good. 10 out of 10, would recommend.

I got this chicken sandwich at the school's cafeteria and... It's not terrible but I still don't like it. The chicken itself is bomb and so are the fries, like Arby's. But. There some weird sweet stuff on it that totally kills it for me and after a while kind of just makes the sandwich taste weird. I will try a burger next time...

I know it's blurry, but it's literally best looking picture of me (sorry to the others, but I'm being selfish). I was not looking good that night. But we had chicken! And mac n cheese that was more like chili cheese than anything else but still good! We went to a karaoke place after that and it was fun, we sang a lot and it was great! Actually, the place we went to kind of smelled like a basement and was pretty shady but we still had a good time (even if all the songs I wanted to sing weren't there).

So there's a meat place right off of our campus, actually there's several, but we went to this one that is like right across the street. We got like 47,000W worth of meat, roughly $45. Yeah. We splurged and it was sooooo worth it. I can't remember the other meats, but the main one, the best one, was samgyeopsal (삼겹살) which is basically layered pork fat. Yeah. It's probably really bad for you, but it's so good. And we even cooked it ourselves, yay us! Oh man though, if you cook the onions and garlic on the grill for a little bit, get the meat slightly charred and shove those suckers into a leaf...heaven. Pure heaven. My love for meat has grown.

I actually have a video of how me making a wrap so please don't laugh at my horrible multitasking skills. Here it is.

So this. Was really good. I don't know the official name, but it's basically soysauce, chicken, rice cakes, dumplings, onions, and noodles thrown together in a big pot of delicious. Couple it with kimchi, seaweed, and rice and you're good to dive face first into it. So yummy.

So yeah, food!
